Forming in the spring of 2018, Sourdough are a four-piece band from Bedfordshire, comprising of Jacob Kyte, Harry Barter, Connor Bishop and Charlie Burnett. The quartet created the project after playing in several different bands. Connor, Harry and Jacob, previously made up a garage-rock band, covering the likes of The Strokes, Arcade Fire and The Libertines – whilst honing their writing and chemistry as a group. The band split in 2017 when Harry relocated to Hong Kong for university. In Harry’s absence, Connor and Jacob formed a three-piece, The Palpitations, playing gigs and recording an LP in and around London, until their premature breakup in April 2018. Determined to continue their energetic performances and recordings, and with Harry back on English soil, the three acquired friend and multi-instrumentalist, Burnett, to play bass, and set about their third and most exciting project yet. Taking to the music room situated at the back of Bishops’s garden, Sourdough set about writing songs with a newfound energy, charisma and maturity – creating a truly unique, natural and encapsulating sound. The interplay between the two frontmen, sees melodic lead riffs cut through heavy, fuzzed-up guitar, supported by a tight and dynamic rhythm section, and an infectious vocal pairing. With this, and their grittily poetic lyricism, Sourdough aim to move post-punk into the 2010s. The groups differing influences come to life in songs such as, Creature; where Kyte’s arpeggiated chords and chanted vocals reside behind Barter’s crunchy lead riff and Bishop’s toe-tapping groove. In other tracks, like Chelsea Grin, the band take a more indie approach, combining fast-paced bass lines with a catchy hook – whilst maintaining their signature heavy edge. Sourdough’s setlist will fill you with energy, rhythm and a rollercoaster of emotion. Set to play a range of gigs in venues spanning from London- Southampton, Sourdough are set to bring their encapsulating live presence and already established local fanbase to audiences throughout the south of England. While focused on playing any gig they can get their hands on, the quartet are working on a debut EP to release this autumn. Keep an ear out!
Glossii, hailed by DIY Magazine as “full of raw, gritty, punk-infused indie-rock" that "barely lets up in energy”, is a four-piece post-punk band created around South London in early 2017 by Charlie Lock and Guitarist Lewis Smith, along with vocalist Sofia Zanghirella and latest joining member, drummer Reuben Rost.
Glossii's hard-hitting riffs and bursts of aggression create the ubiquitous back-beat for Sofia’s femme-fatale lyrical insight- reminiscent of other bands such as Wolf Alice and Garbage with a detection and a nod to the original allure of Blondie.
2018 has been an impressive debut year for the band, performing at Camden Rocks Festival on the Doc Martens stage, supporting HMLTD in Guildford and releasing their debut single: Headache, which has received significant support from Diva Magazine & Amazing Radio.
Headache and Runaway Rockaway was produced, engineered and mixed at Eastcote Studios by the renowned George Murphy.
Black Calavera are looking to bring a new, old sound to the music scene. Some kind of beach grunge to avoid the pressing question, since the mix of genres from one track to the next is hard to pin down. A group of riff-raff individuals with an alternative twist for the people who are done listening to the wishy washy nonsense.
UK alternative rock band FRAMATICS combine raw guitars, thundering beats and panoramic synths to create an explosive sonic identity. Fronted by vocalist Madeleine Todd, the band formed in London, 2018, after guitarist Zachariah Stone, bassist Liam Banga and drummer Adam Strain were in pursuit of a new musical venture. The four-piece crafted their sound over several months, writing and demoing tracks between rehearsals and home, ultimately self recording and producing their debut single, ‘I Think You’re Funny’, released 23rd April 2019.
